The way of the consumable
The way of the consumable is the art to prepare yourself for the conquest of your foes. Where "The way of tactics" mastered by Sech, deals with the strengths and weaknesses of our foes or "The way of feign deathing your foes till it die of old age", mastered by Edderkoppen, which deals with... yea well , The way of the consumable is about
enhancing your skills or defeating your injuries.
Im an old master ( and yes thanks for reminding me each and every day about me being old) and I think it is time to teach from me, my secrets. I know all of you know some of the tricks and some of you know maybe not all but most of the tricks, but I will attempt to set into some sort of order.
First of all we use consumeables to defeat difficult foes. The harder they are or the less we know about them, the more is needed to defeat them. Or atleast this helps alot. When a type of foes has been defeated many times, we usually find it can be done with alot less consumeables. So with a new foe you might find yourself spending a good time before the engagement actually preparing for the encounter, and let it be said right away. Preparing is winning.
So what types can we get ?
Bandages
"tis but a fleshwound"
Everyone should bring bandages whether you are meele caster or healer. Bandages is of those things that really can make a fight much easier. 40 people using 2 heavy runecloth bandages in a fight have healed optimally 160.000 hp. That is a good chunk of hp. For a raid I recommend you bring atleast 60 heavy runecloth bandages and while you might not use this many I find 60 a good number to have stacked up. If you find your inventory holding less than 20, then its definately time to find the lvl 50ies undead or humanoid or for you rich bastards, the AH.
Potions
"drink this and all thy sorrows shall be gone"
Potions is a great way to enhance yourself or restore your health and mind you, this master is from the art of stealth and deceit but I will try to fullfill the needs of the pansy casters too.

Felwood Gathering:
“Corruption is a way of life”
Felwood is a special place when it comes to getting consumeables. It has some unique stuff you wont find anywhere else.
To do gathering you must first have done a quest.
Quest giver :
http://www.thottbot.com/?n=4544
After that you will get a lantern. And you can either hunt for shards or gather it via mining/skinning. I prefer hunting and I have a date with the deadwood bears there regularly. Those you can turn in and get salves and with the salves you can start the gathering. But before you start you should download this little mod:
Felwood gather:
http://www.curse-gaming.com/en/wow/addons-2446-1-felwoodgather.html
This mod will help you in search for the goodies.
To gather the stuff in Felwood I often use the early weekend hours as there are almost noone there, but Felwood is not so bad camped anymore even in the prime hours.
Stuff you can get :
Windblossom Berries
http://www.thottbot.com/?i=4841

Nice for all classes. Note doesn’t stack with normal food buffs but is much easier to gather (can get 100 in no time gathering these). Stacks with Green Grog from DM N btw.
Night Dragon's Breath

Night Dragon's Breath
Binds when picked up
Requires Level 45
Use: Restores 394 to 456 mana and 394 to 456 health.
Cooldown: 2 min
Charges: 1 (Expendable)
Item Level 55
Source: Spell
Use: Quest
Not that useful but I usually pick them up. Note since patch 1.11 these share the timer with Healthstones.
Whipper Root Tuber
http://www.thottbot.com/?i=2959
Whipper Root Tuber
Binds when picked up
Requires Level 45
Use: Restores 700 to 900 health.
Cooldown: 2 min
Charges: 1 (Expendable)
Item Level 55
Source: Spell
All classes should pick these and they can be rather important in a prolonged fight. These do NOT share timer with other health potions but share timer with healthstones. Still they are very good and if you have a healthstone you can use that first and then in a long fight still use a whipper root or 2.
Everyone pick these.
Songflower Serenade
http://www.thottbot.com/?sp=15366
Songflower Serenade
30 yd range
Instant
Increases chance for a melee, ranged, or spell critical by 5% and all attributes by 15 for 1 hour.
Last 1 is a buff and not so feasible to collect for raiding (1 hour dur etc) but Ill mention it since it nice to use while grinding shards in felwood for the other stuff. _________________
